Arvid Cullenberg
Men's Cross Country Head Coach


 

 

The seven-time (2000-2005, 2007) Conference Coach of the Year, Arvid Cullenberg took the reins as men's cross country coach at the University of Maine at Farmington in the fall of 2000 and has enjoyed considerable success. Highlights over the past eight years include: six team conference championships, 28 runners have earned all-conference selections, 5 conference runner of the year awards, four individual qualifiers for Nationals and two Academic All-Americans.

Cullenberg earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in physical education and health from the University of Maine. His master's included a concentration in kinesiology. He currently teaches health and physical education at Mt. Blue High School in Farmington.

Prior to UMF, Cullenberg served as assistant cross-country coach at Mt. Blue with his wife, Kelley, who is the head coach. During their leadership, Mt. Blue claimed three conference titles, two Eastern Maine championships, and two Class A state championships. Three runners won individual state titles and six achieved All-American status. Cullenberg also worked as assistant women's soccer coach at Plymouth State College with head coach Phil Rowe. Their 1986 team placed second at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Additionally, Cullenberg was also head track and field coach at Mt. Blue from 1992-2001. He has also coached other various sports, including baseball, wrestling, lacrosse, and cycling.
