Cyndi Pratt
Field Hockey Head Coach
Assistant Athletics Director
A
former standout field hockey player at the University of New
Hampshire and a product of Mt. Blue High School, Cynthia Pratt
recently completed her third season as the head field hockey coach at UMaine-Farmington
and guided the team to yet another outstanding campaign.
Pratt was elevated to the
position of head coach following seven years as a UMF assistant,
replacing long-time coach Elizabeth Yeaton (Beth) Evans. In her
first season as head coach, Pratt guided the Beavers to the 2004 and
2006 NAC Tournament Championship, the sixth in an eight-year span) and the Sweet 16
of the NCAA Division III National Tournament. In 2005, Pratt led
UMF to the NAC Tournament finals and an 11-6 record, running her
career mark to 21.
Pratt
also serves as an assistant athletics director with numerous
administrative and coordinator responsibilities. As part of the Life
Skills program, she will coordinate the student-athletes' involvement
in community service projects as well as the NCAA Choices Grant
awarded for campus alcohol prevention and educational programming.
Prior
to becoming the assistant AD and head coach, Pratt was an elementary physical education teacher in
Sko whegan, and had also served as the department head in previous
years. Her coaching experience includes several years as assistant
field hockey coach and two years as assistant women’s basketball
coach at UMF, a graduate assistant field hockey coach at UNH, and a
variety of coaching positions with Skowhegan Area High School.
Pratt received her
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from UNH. She currently resides in
New Sharon with her husband, Scott, and their two sons.
