Women's soccer rolls by Becker
LEICESTER, Mass. -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team blanked Becker College 4-0 in non-conference action today.
Jennifer Richter (Lamoine, ME), Julie Walters (Wells, ME) and Amber Murphy (Manchester, NH) each scored a goal in the victory for the Beavers, who also benefited from an own goal.
Farmington (4-4) is scheduled to host Johnson State College in North Atlantic Conference action on Saturday. The Hawks dropped to 3-9.
The own goal opened the scoring for the Beavers at 10:33 with Richter cashing in on a corner kick at 29:46 for a 2-0 command at intermission. Walters padded the lead at 66:28 and Murphy followed at 71:10 for the 4-0 victory.
Mckell Barnes (Durham, ME) worked the first 56 minutes in goal with one save for Farmington with Ashley Holshouser (Berwick, ME), Crystal Johnson (Skowhegan, ME) and Jordan Whitaker (Deering, NH) sharing duties over the final 34 minutes. The Beavers outshot Becker 26-6 and held a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Shannon Tebbetts and Alena Phongsa manned the pipes for Becker. The duo made 10 saves.
